Our Lambs

Sheep are relatively new to us. We started raising a flock of sheep because of the advantages of multi-species grazing.

Our sheep are mainly Katahdins but have some Dorper influence. These breeds are “hair sheep”.

Hair sheep have a different type of wool that enables them to shed rather than be sheared.

Because of this, they are lower maintenance, tails do not need to be docked, and the meat they produce is milder in flavor.  These breeds are also very parasite resistant.

Our lambs are bred, born, and raised on our farm just like our cattle.  We raise them the same way as our cattle with no antibiotics, no unnecessary additives, and mainly on pasture.  They are fed with hay and grain grown on our farm.

Sheep are more seasonal than cattle as far as breeding goes, therefore, finished lambs are only available during certain months.
